Abstract

Servitization is a growing trend that is transforming manufacturing with a focus on blending physical products with digitally enabled services. Its organisational capabilities that use digitalisation as a means to create servitization and thus competitive consequences, however, are not yet sufficiently integrated. This is a pilot study to investigate the role of data-driven digital capability, servitization capability, service innovation capability and competitive advantage in manufacturing companies. The study design was quantitative with cross sectional approach and data was collected from the manufacturing professionals (N = 60) through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive analysis, reliability measure and correlation and regression analysis were used as preliminary analysis in data analysis. The results indicate certain level of initial support of the hypothesized relationships: data-driven digital capability is positively related to servitization capability; servitization capability is linked to service innovation and competitive advantage. But there is positive relationship between service innovation capability and competitive advantage. The results provide a preliminary stage in empirical validation of the proposed model by a bigger study.
