Abstract

This case study was developed to support classroom dialogue focused on sustainability issues within business supply chains. Students will learn the definition, importance and metrics to measure sustainability. We discuss the challenges Kijani Ecoware faces as it enters the market in Uganda (or any new market) to promote eco-friendly and sustainable cutlery. Students will learn how businesses can provide sustainable solutions and contribute to environmental responsibility. They will examine the current supply chain, its challenges and trade-offs involved in balancing operations, profits and sustainable practices. Finally, we introduce sustainability practices that can be easily adopted in everyday life, encouraging students to apply what they have learned in practical ways.
