The United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 11, are aimed at sustainable cities and heritage management. The paper explores the relevance of SDG 2030 to heritage management, highlighting the role of safeguarding cultural and natural heritage in promoting social cohesion and environmental sustainability. It learns from global best practices to tackle India’s problems of rapid urbanization and climate change. The paper recommends policy to enhance heritage management and advocates for collaboration for global preservation. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of India’s cultural heritage in socio-economic development, calling for its inclusion in development planning to promote cultural identity, tourism, economic resilience, and community participation through inclusive policies and responsible governance.
