Abstract

Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) has emerged as a critical strategic capability for firms seeking to achieve and sustain competitive advantage in Asian markets. This study explores the strategic role of IMC through a qualitative case study grounded in secondary data, focusing on how firms manage communication coherence in environments characterized by digital intensity, competitive pressure, and institutional complexity. The analysis examines how IMC aligns communication channels, brand narratives, and strategic intent to support long-term market positioning. The findings indicate that IMC contributes to competitive advantage by strengthening communication coherence, reinforcing brand-related practices, and enabling sustained stakeholder engagement across multiple touchpoints. The integrated use of traditional and digital communication channels supports experiential continuity, enhances brand credibility, and facilitates trust and legitimacy in the market. Rather than generating short-term promotional outcomes, IMC-driven practices foster stability and adaptability, allowing firms to maintain strategic clarity while responding to changing market conditions. The study further highlights the relevance of IMC for entrepreneurial firms and small and medium-sized enterprises in Asia, where resource efficiency and relationship-based competitiveness are essential. By embedding communication integration into routine organizational practices, firms reduce the risks associated with channel fragmentation and information overload while strengthening resilience and long-term visibility. By conceptualizing IMC as a strategic, capability-based mechanism, this research contributes to marketing and strategy literature and offers actionable insights for achieving sustainable competitive advantage in dynamic Asian economies.
